Success Stories
DAVE MARTIN
This would never have happened without the help of my physical therapist and trainer, Larry Hinson, of the Mendocino Sports Club, the advice of Dr. John Cottle, and the encouragement from my diabetic counselor, Theresa McDonald, of the North Coast Family Health Center. Thank you all, for guiding me on a path back to health! |
Overweight at 53, Dave had a high risk for developing life threatening health issues. He had serious cholesterol problems with triglycerides of an astonishing 2900 (a healthy level is below 150), type II diabetes, and a physical weight of 282 pounds.
A program of diet and exercise was recommended when Dave asked his doctor about weight loss surgery. Referred to local physical therapist and trainer, Larry Hinson, Dave was concerned about the expense of a trainer along with a diet counselor. Later, Dave's wife pointed out their food bill had dropped more than the cost of the program.
Exercising six times a week and following his menu plan, Dave zealously stuck to his challenging program. Within eight months, he had reached his goal weight of 180 pounds.
Dave no longer takes any medication for diabetes, cholesterol, or blood pressure. And, since his success, has been able to quit using a CPAP machine for sleep apnea.

TIBISAY GEIS
Throughout high school, I was the girl that always showed up with a written medical excuse for PE. After my 30th year, and suffering from a crippling back condition that took six years to overcome, I started working out at different locations in Northern California.
Then I had the good fortune of meeting Larry Hinson and his staff at the Mendocino Sports Club. It was here my level of interest and skill took off. Working out at the Mendocino Sports Club has meant a world of difference to me. Diverse systems and modalities of fitness are well represented through its training staff in a most enthusiastic and supportive environment.
JOE & BECKY McDANIEL
Joe and Becky demonstrated the results of making a big change together. The support a partner gives can be very powerful.
Becky exercised hard for over a year before beginning a weight loss program at the Mendocino Sports Club. By working with a personal trainer, Joe and Becky added healthy nutrition to their exercise program.
